Country Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, String Beans, and Gravy
Let's get it!
Ingredients: (Country Fried Steak)
- White flour
- Cube steak (looks like a hamburger patty ran under a tire)
- Eggs (how many depends on how many steaks you're cooking, I'd say 2 eggs per 2 steaks)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cooking oil of your choice
- Potatoes boiled and peeled...or if you like me and want the easy route...buy a package of instant
- Fresh string beans...or if you like me and want the easy route...a can of string beans (I prefer green giant myself)
- Chicken broth
- 1/4 stick of butter
- White flour
- Milk
Steaks:
First, take steaks, cover both sides with salt and pepper, put salt and pepper into flour. Take steaks, dip them in the egg and coat them completely, then cover with flour...take steak out of flour and put into egg again...then, put in frying pan...when blood starts to seep through to top, flip over. If you have a big enough pan you can cook 2-3 at a time...and the frying takes no time at all.
Potatoes:
Follow directions on package...duh teehehe
String Beans:
Drain water out of can, put into pot, simmer with chicken broth and butter, season with salt and pepper (LIGHT on the salt since you have chicken broth AND butter in there) if you have some smoked turkey laying around, throw that in there too, cover and let simmer for....ohhhh..15 minutes to get the flavors moving around.
Gravy:
For this, you're going to use the pan you fried the steaks in...remove from heat...leave just enough oil (and the scraps that didn't make it out of the pan) for it to be standing...add flour...stir...when it clumps...add milk...whisk until creamy and smooth (add more flour or milk if needed).
Done...viola!
