"Reading is fundamental!"

Yall remember class act? Wedge said that ("Now reading....is fundamental...YOU! TEACH!") lol. Anyway, I'm sitting here on my job search grind and I'm looking at all these jobs and whatnot and it's depressing...not because I don't have a job and I'm sitting here looking for one, but because I want to get out of the customer service field....and it seems like in order to do that (and still maintain my good pay) is to have a degree.

Now, I hate school, I tried it, got around 60 credits under my belt, got knocked up and never officially went back...I've taken classes here and there but never got serious about it again...but here I sit, jobless...and I'm SERIOUSLY contemplating going to school full time just to get the shit done and out the way.

My question to myself though is....can I do it?

Sure, I could get financial aid, maybe a couple student loans if needed, those payments are deferred until I get out of school...I don't have any rent/mortgage to pay...just the car note, insurance, cell phone, groceries, daily living expenses....I'm eligible for unemployment...and I could get a little part time gig, work temp jobs or something....it would give me more time with my son...

But could I really finagle this to work? I HATE not having money...hell I've been working since I was 15! I've ALWAYS had a job...when I got laid off in 2007 I started a new job 2 weeks after my last one ended.

Things would be SUPER tight...but I'm SERIOUSLY considering...I need to do more research before I make a final decision, but I (for once) really want to go to school....

I think it's a good idea... go head and get that degree- you can do it.

I support this message...

Girl.......DO IT. The more time you waste is time that you could have been getting a eduacation. I promise you I have been flirting with the idea for some time now. I am a registrar @ a hospital. This is not where the money is. I need my nursing degree ASAP.

It sounds like a good idea and if you don't have rent and what not to pay then I don't see why you can't do it. And it would be much faster if u were fulltime with it. At some point I'm going to go in for another degree but time and finances don't permit me to do so. But If I had to time and money I would have done it already. So go for it. Think about what you'd major in 1st. What type of degree is best for you and then go for it.

you can do it! :)

better question is why shouldn't you? maybe getting laid off was a blessing in disguise, even tho it may be a struggle i believe your sacrifice will pay off in the end, both financially and as well as spending more time with your son.
