Which means I need to get some shopping in for this coming fall/winter.
And so I look to the runways for info on what is hot and take from that things I like to incorporate into my wardrobe...this blog...will be about that.
The European Trend Institute has come up with 4 key looks for the coming cold weather:
Realistic
A combination of subtle neutrals and glossy metallics provide some urban chic. Silk and jersey provide femininity and large graphic patterns take on a more softer look. The statement necklace plays an important part with shiny metallics and vanished ornaments, providing art-deco influences.
Sensitive
Voluminous but cozy fabrics in warm and dusty tones. Outercoats take on a semi-transparent quality, along with hairy light flannels. Think rich velvets in soft pastels, and seductive lace.
Magical
Warm forest inspired tones of brown and forest green. Plaids and checks are given a modern twist with an ombre effect and prints redifine animal motifs.
Expressive
An eclectic mix of folk, neohippie, and artsy prints in unusual cold/warm contrasts. Denims, tweeds, and checks provide a splash in high color.
Accessory trends:
Statement necklaces

Long line gloves (such a nod to the 80's)

Luxe snoods

Animal print (leopard and zebra print especially...I prefer giraffe though)

Key Investment purchases:
Suede
Silk Twill
Flannel
Staple Colors (as always)
Black
Navy
Camel
Shoes:
Ankle boots (booties)

Over the Knee boots (How hot are those Vivienne Westwoods?)

Intricate details (Loving those Anna Sui ones)

Mary Jane shoes (timeless...I really like to go with a wider heel circumference in the colder months...I don't know why, it just looks better to me)

Lace up boots

Sculpted platforms with socks (Balenciaga = FIYA)

Cuban heels (not necessarily a fan)

Capes, Capelets, Cloaks

I was surprised by this! I've had a caplet for 2 years now (which I love by the way...so cute and chic) and for this to be called a trend NOW...well it makes one think...does this mean I was ahead of the game or was the fashion industry slipping on it's pimping?
A line coats (classic)
Military Jackets/Buttons
Fur detailing at the collar/cuffs (looooove Carolina Herrera)
Oversized collars
Reversed collars (this is not a coat, I know...just look at the collar for example)
Ruffles

Tweed
Cinched waist
So basically, make your shoes and accessories hot, and top it all off with a good coat with a touch of pizazz. Of course a girl of my financial situation cannot afford all these high priced labels...BUUUUUT, the stuff I can afford is always available in stores that I can afford so I will be incorporating these into my wardrobe...but all in all, how you dress is how you dress. Just have fun with it and do you.Hell...start your own trend :-)
Peace n blessings!
