My story:
So....I tried to transition back in 2005, did it for maybe 4 months and hated how my hair looked "nappy" at the front and straight at the back and so I just gave it up and put a relaxer in my hair. Humans are an "instant result" type of people...I am no different.
This year I really started heavily considering it because I so love the cuuuuuuuuuurls! And I love the low maintenance of it (I HATE sitting in a beauty shop for hours. I need a 'within the hour' type of hair style. So I was going back and forth about it untilllllll I saw Ms. Gem's hair...
Let's just say she gave the push I needed to get started.
So my last relaxer was mid April (sorry I have NO pictures of my hair at the time because no one (cept family and the BFF) has seen (much less taken a picture) of my hair since....the 90's? Yeah...I'm not kidding.
So seeing as though No one has seen my hair...I have a special treat for you my pretty's!
YOU will be of the select people to actually see my hair...in all its glory.
(I'll hold for applause)
Now, since I didn't go to work today, I figured it be a good day to commence the "routine" which is long winded as I'm still working out the kinks as to how I want my regime to go and what products work for me (a very important part of transitioning/having natural hair I've found). Usually I'll do a co-wash once a week and braid my hair up to wear under my wig but the "routine" is more like once a month.
I have VERY damaged hair...so I start with 2 egg yolks and a conditioner mix, leave that on my hair for 10-30 minutes. Then rinse in warm (not hot!) water...hot water no matter how good it feels on your scalp (I think) is bad news for your hair whether relaxed or natural.
Pat dry...still leaving a little damp and then I do a hot oil treatment (I'm using plain old EVOO...but whatever tickles your fancy is good) because of the egg yolk (which can make your hair super-de-duper brittle) you need an INTENSE moisturizer...and I'm working with what's in the crib at the moment. Leave that on for 20.
Then I wash my hair...currently loving Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla...leaves my hair smelling fantabulous (yes...that is a word dammit!) and makes it SUPER soft. And follow up with Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla leave in conditioner (they also have a smoothie...but for the amount you get, I think it's a waste of money so I pass on that). The leave in works well on my relaxed portion of hair....but on the unprocessed part...whooo chile! It works wonders!
And just to see how it looks....I tried a braid out....

I love double image pictures :0)And I <3 my hair.

I LOVE the final looks its HOT!!!!!
I love it !!!! The Curls are hot!!!
I've gotta say....my final verdict on your your hair?? Fierce girl! - Love it!
I love the final product it looks really nice on you. Lemme just say you should probably go to the shop one last time and let them clip your ends really good if you haven't already done so. Specially since you still wear a wig sometimes. It'll just help it grow that much faster. Also I think everyone who is going with the natural look should try a wet set with rods( not rollers) and see what kind of results you get, you just might fall in love with the look like I did. I've always been natural tho. Never a relaxer or a perm or anything like that. As much as my wavy/curly hair gets on my nerves sometimes, if it wasn't this way I don't know what I'd so with it. But keep up the good work Miss lady.
loving that....I go back and forth with myself on this natural thing... I think i may be inspired... just a lil but
YOU LOOK BOMM!
