"Where did you get those sunglasses/shoes/pants/top/necklace?"
Usually I say "oh I can't remember" because I searched hard to find the shit I have...why should I give up the secret so willingly right? But today my lovlies I will be giving you the inside scoop...step into the woman cave...
It's real nice in here huh lol..."Benson...be a dear and bring us ladies some refreshments n shit"
Okay so this is more so for my curvy ladies since I myself an a voluptuous sister...we have often times in the past had a harder time of finding clothes that didn't make us look like...
A garden...
Or a tent...
I am here to give you things to do and things to not do and a couple of stores I shop in...
Tips n Tricks n Shit (Again this is geared towards my thick sisters but every woman can use these tips)
- Be comfortable with you...before I fully accepted my body it was hard to shop, I didn't like how anything looked on me because I didn't like the way I looked.
- Create a good support system...seriously a good bra can make you look thinner, it pulls the girls up and accentuates your waist...stop shopping in target for bras...go straight to Lane Bryant...good bras, good deals, and they have loads of mix and match colors so you don't have to wear bandaid colored undies all the time. Besides that it brings the focus of the eye from lower on your body (the midsection) towards your face!
- Avoid alot of patterns...yes I know, if you go to many stores and look around you see a bunch of clothing that has flowers/stripes/paint splatters/etc on them...remember, the buyers at these stores are not our size, they don't know what looks best on us. They think the patterns will distract from us being plus size...but really it accentuates it. Go for more solid color items and if you are going to do a print, use it sparingly and ONLY at the top portion of your body.
- Buy clothes that fit...you buy clothes that are too small you look sloppy...you buy clothes that are too big and you look sloppy.
- Try on clothes AT THE STORE...dressing rooms are there for a reason and even if you've purchased from that store before things do run different.
- Be open minded...when shopping see an outfit...not just the article of clothing. A pair of jeans may look hideous to you on a mannequin but paired with the right boot you've got a winning look.
- Don't be afraid of discount stores (Rainbow/Dots/Forever 21/etc)...you have to be careful in these stores because alot of stuff in there looks cheap (because it is) but you can go in there and luck up on some good shit from time to time...
Dress from Forever 21
Top from Rainbow
Top/Jeans/Belt from Dots
Accentuate the positive...you got a narrow waist? Through a belt on it...got nice boobs? Show some cleavage...Got nice legs? Wear leggings/skirts...work what you got!
Spend cash on the basics...when it comes to your jeans/bras/jackets/coats, spend the extra money! Sure you can get some $30.00 jeans from Target but Lane Bryant sells Seven jeans which are better quality and will last you longer...not to mention they are made to shape your lower half ever so slightly. You get what you pay for and you are paying for quality.
Stay away from the plus size "designer brand" trap...Baby Phat, Rocawear, Dereon, etc...if you are going to wear the clothes don't walk around looking like a billboard, you brought their clothes and now they are getting free advertising off you...YOU'RE BEING USED.
Okay...now that that's outta the way...onto where I shop...
To name a few...
I could give you endless websites and stores (Macy's, Saks, Nordstroms) that you can go to to find something that works for you...alot of women feel that there just aren't stores out there that cater to them...but as you've seen here...they do! So use this information...or pass it on to someone who needs it because I swear there is nothing more disgusting than an unkempt thick chick/big girl...we gotta work harder than our skinnier sisters.
Go forth and be great! Peace n blessings....
n shit :-)

lmao@ nightfall. He always stealin thangs lol
thanks for some of these recommendations. My teenage cousin definitely needs to look at some of these sites. She's a 24 and tries to squeeze into 16-18s. I guess she feels like that she won't find trendy clothes in her size. But squeezing into the smaller sizes just because it's trendy isn't cute at all.
@Nightfall: LMAO!!!! Don't be stealing my pics
@Krissy: he's a mess lol
@Monique: I just wish I could take all the plus size chicks and teach them that you don't have to be a size 8 to be cute or trendy. They (retailers) cater to us too...you just gotta look.
i totally didn't read any of this. i just looked at the pictures. lol..
i like pictures. lol. of women. in clothes. out of clothes too. you should post a variety.
