I'm so excited about it because I love to cook (even though I haven't uploaded any pics for my Benita Crocker segment lately) as yall may have noticed. My ambition is to be the black version of Paula Deen when I get to be a senior, she is my shero...as far as culinary arts go.
There is so much to do in such a short amount of time, I still need to plan my menu! So far I know I'll have:
- Turkey
- Macaroni and cheese
- Green beans
- Mashed Potatoes
- Greens
- Biscuits/Rolls
- Sweet Potato casserole
- Stuffing
- Cabbage
- Some type of cake (more than likely a yellow batter with chocolate frosting)
- Sweet Potato Pie
- Oreo Cookie Pie (possibly)
That's what I got so far...maybe there will be more...maybe that will be it, I don't know yet, I'm brainstorming on a second meat to serve since usually I do a ham and I stopped eating pork this year...we shall see I guess. And I also need some type of appetizers for the day time before Thanksgiving dinner actually occurs. I will try to remember to take pictures so you all can see my work and be soooooooo jealous lol...keyword in that sentence is try.
But anywho this Thanksgiving I'm thankful for the ability to cook...almost nothing brings me greater joy than to stand in my kitchen and make something with my own two h
ands and then serving it to someone...the look of satisfaction on their faces gives me a joy that is almost indescribable. I love hearing people say a meal I made for them was great more than I love hearing them say I'm cute...yeah, it's that deep lol. Cooking makes me happy, so happy that I end up dancing as I cook (Sunshinestar and Dearly Beloved can attest that this is a fact)...even on Thanksgiving when I'm on my feet for hours at a time for 2 days straight I still manage to shake my bootay around my kitchen as I peel potatoes, grate cheese, etc...which reminds me, I need to make a CD of booty bouncing music for me to listen to whilst making dinner.
So anyway...what are yall thankful for? I know family, friends, health, and all that...what's something unconventional that you're thankful for?
