Tools
Large tooth comb
Scalp Massager
So that seems like alot of product now that I've laid it out...but what I do is pretty simple and I only do this twice a month...
- Dampen hair and apply hello hydration liberally...detangle hair with fingers and then the large tooth comb and massage scalp with scalp massager
- Shampoo with Shea Moisture only once
- Apply Deep Conditioner Mix (mix of all the above listed ingredients, I put into a pump bottle I got from Sallys) wrap hair in a hand towel I submerged in hot water, then wrap head in a plastic bag and sit under dryer for at least 30 minutes (this is my attempt at steaming my hair since I don't have one *sad face*)
- Rinse conditioner and allow to air dry until 80% dry
- Apply Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque and Seal with Cream of Nature Argan Oil
- Style as desired
Once a month I'll use the Renpure Reconstructor...I'm careful with it because I was using it once a week when I first got it and my hair was BRITTLE so I've cut down on that.
Once a week I'll take a mix I made (shea butter, ORS Nature's shine, and Aloe Vera Gel) and smooth over hair and scalp and use the scalp massager, I also apply this mix to my ends every other day or so.
I use the Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner as a refresher daily.
I cowash (with Herbal Essence) as needed...if my hair feels dry or my scalp is itchy I'll cowash but usually it's once a week...if that.
Once every other month I will use Herbal Essence Degunkify Shampoo to remove the cones I have built up in my hair and also to give me a fresh start of sorts since I have hard water.
All in all wash day (which is twice a month as I stated because I don't really use gels and things that build up too badly) takes me an hour? Maybe an hour and a half...that's not including style time which can vary depending on what I'm doing.
Pictures!
My hair straightened for a wedding...I added a few tracks to gimme a little more umph lol
A twist out from last month...and my crooked glasses
My current style...mini twists...and my pale skin...it was 3:30am gimme a break!
A mini length check...of sorts. My hair was collarbone length when I chopped in August and I have about 2 inches of growth or so.
My attempt at a length check...my hair...didn't work out but my hair falls just a smidgent below where my necklace is.
You can view an ingredient list for each product after the jump...just know I'm not a ingredient nazi

Girl, you soooooo inspire me! I love the style above the twists! That is so pretty and looks so soft, natural! Where are you getting your 100% African Shea Butter from? I used to be able to get some but now can't find it anywhere. Do you know where I can order it? I would love to have that because it works on my hair really well. It seems there's a lot to do when keeping the hair natural, but all so worth it. How long did it take you to realize what products worked the best for your hair? And...how do you get the effect of the style I liked up top? Is that just braiding it with setting lotion and taking it loose in the morning or something? Please share :-)
Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna go back thru the list now.
Aww thank you! I get my Shea Butter from either the African stores or the beauty supply store. There's a couple sites that sell it but they escape me right now :-/ so I'll have to get back to you on that one. I just found out about 2 months ago what REALLY worked in my hair and my last relaxer was in february of 2009...it takes some time and I spent a bunch of cash on things that didn't make the cut...unfortunately. That style was a three strand twist out. I did my regimen described above and just three strand twisted my hair in little twists with a little bit of eco styler olive oil gel and after a couple of days took them out but I've done it where I take it out the next day too
i am hatin cause you have guts to just cut it off... i wanna go natural so bad. My hair is sooo long and im scared to cut it. we have been through so much, but i am tired of the creamy crack. i agree with Traci the curly fro is cute.
Your hair is looking fab! I'm loving it. You already know I will have to post this story over on my blog. LOL
How is that Argan oil working out for you? I've heard it's the Holy Grail for your hair. It's pretty pricey though.
@Mz Jones: I transitioned for 15 months so I was a punk too...and my hair wasn't even that long!
@Monique: Thank ya ma'am! I don't know if its the Argan oil (because all the products don't really have that much of it in them) or the regimen...but my hair is EXTRAORDINARILY soft and feels really hydrated. I was contemplating spending the cash for the real thing but what I have now works just as good
Very pretty and sheeny! Is that a word?? Well, at any rate you're doing a great job. It makes me happy to see my folk nappy. Corny, yes. Your skinny twists are neat too. Do they get fuzzy fast?
@ZAG: thank you! *looks to judges* we'll accept sheeny! My twists get fuzzy after about a week. I just cowashed and retwisted the perimeter last night to give it a refreshed look for the week
Your hair is very nice....and you're a very pretty woman too.
@Reggie: Thank you! Two times two times!
