To Tweet or Not to Tweet...that is the question

Had a conversation with a friend a couple weeks ago...he asked me,

"Do you have a problem with dating someone on a social networking site?"

After thinking about it for a moment my answer was...

"It depends..."

There are two types of people that are memebers of the social networking community....

The attention whore..

The person who is ALWAYS on said social network, always telling you any and everything about them and what they are doing, their thoughts on every single thing that you never cared about. They live in the limelight, they need it, the thrive off of it. Any bit of attention they receive they relish in it. Attention whores especially relish in the attention they receive from members of the opposite sex so THAT person...no.

Then you have just the regular joe's...

They see social networks as a way to pass the time, share funny stories, occasional deep thoughts, and just network...they can shut down the twitter/facebook and live their lives. They don't look for gratification from people the have and will never meet...THAT person...yes.

I have dated both the attention whore and the regular joe...both on social networks and I can tell you the social networking was always an issue with the attention whore, both on my end and on his. Initially I brought up how some things he said were unsavory and shouldn't be said...he shrugged it off as no big deal...so I gave him a taste of his own medifine....needless to say he didn't like that too much. With the regular joe guys I've dated on social networks.....no issues whatsoever.

So what say you blog fam....to tweet or not to tweet?

Facebook is cool, and I never really got the hang of twitter. I do like to check out some message boards...

I used them mostly to past time.

Like Ice I never got the hang of twitter. I'm gonna try again though...
Facebook annoys me. People who update every hour... People who cryptic rants about arguments that they are having IRL. Farmville, Mafia Wars, Hugs... I can do without FB!

it depends to me too. same reasons you stated just with chicks instead of dudes. lol.

but i find women can NOT take a taste of their own medicine. like. the way to show us is to cheat and yea we can't take that. but the way to show you is to just do the things you think are harmless because you're a woman but they wouldn't be consider harmless if you were a dude.

I also say it depends. But I am more prone to regular dudes anyway so it would work for me.

A friend of mine is dating someone who tweets all the time and often and he flirts with EVERYONE on twitter. It's kinda disrespectful in a way. But on the other hand, who really cares that he's flirting. I don't like that people know they are dating mainly because he kept putting their business all on twitter! thats just extra wackstastic to me
