Ya Learn Something New Everyday!

My baby got a lil cold and whatnot, standard shit, runny nose, sneezing, coughing. I thought I'd wait it out because I'm not a big fan of giving/taking medicine as soon as a sniffle comes along...so I wait two days, the cough persists. So tonight I went to the local pharmacy, got him some cough syrup and a bag of cough drops. I make my selection and go to the counter to pay for my purchases. The pharmacist is at the counter smiling at me.

"Come on up here so I can tell you what you did wrong." He says

"Huh?" I say

"Lemme see whatcha got." He says as he looks at my items.

"Good." He says about the cough drops. He picks up the cough syrup and laughs. "This however is crap, who you getting this for?"

"My six year old." I say

"Come with me." He leads me back into the cold/allergy medicine aisle. "What's he got going on?"

"Common cold. Coughing, runny nose, light sneezing." I say

"Okay well all you need is this." He says and hands me a bottle of Benadryl, I look at him skeptically...the "C'mon son" look if you will. He goes to explain to me that all cough syrup does is supress the cough, it doesn't solve anything else. Benadryl however dries up the mucus (which is causing the cough because it is dripping into the throat) and thereby stifles the cough. Annnnnd allergy medicine is cheaper than cough syrup.

So I'm passing the info onto you, don't waste your money on cough syrup...unless you using it to get to sleep...and if you doing that...seek a doctor, that's not safe.

PS-hope all of yall cough into your forearm like the children above..that is the CORRECT way to do it...stop spreading germs by coughing/sneezing into your hand...nasty ass nasty
